Wynnum Christmas Trophy presentation and lunch

ur annual Christmas Trophy presentation and lunch was held on Saturday 11th December under blue skies and high temperatures, with a huge number of members turning up to play and join in the festivities.

Our Patron, Cr Peter Cumming, was on hand to open proceedings with an amusing story on how our croquet numbers have been increasing over the years. It was great to have him join us when we know he has such a very busy schedule.

A wonderful spread of food was presented as a buffet for all who attended, with "seconds" for those who wished to have it. Many thanks must go to our new Providore, Shelley, and her wonderful team of helpers for their hard work.

The awards were then presented by our President, John, as follows:

- AC handicap singles – Bruce Fleming (3rd year in a row) - GC open singles – Gordon Giles (3rd year in a row) - Richard Pickvance Shield, GC mixed doubles – Beryl Russell and David Ford - Joyce Short Memorial Trophy, Most improved player 2021 – Cecelia Hains - Dell Nicholl Shield, GC Ladies club champion – Beryl Russell - Club Champion Shield, GC handicap singles – Mike Fordyce - Nita Winkley Trophy, AC open singles – Elizabeth Fleming

We look forward to another year of brilliant croquet competition in 2022.

Wishing all fellow croquet clubs in Brisbane, Queensland and Australia a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year from the Management Committee and members of Wynnum Croquet Club.
