his afternoon we welcomed 8 players from the Edinburgh Gardens Croquet Club, Melbourne, to our club. What a wonderful afternoon it was. First up was a welcome BBQ, followed by a game of croquet. There was much laughter on the lawns as everyone enjoyed playing croquet in the winter sunshine.

Colin was a star pupil. Having never attempted a jump shot before, he was talked through how to do one and executed it perfectly. This resulted in much cheering and laughter, especially from Colin. Our members were keen to share their knowledge of the game, and our visitors went home with a few new skills to try out next time they play.

Our guests presented Max with an Edinburgh Gardens Croquet Club T-shirt as a memento of their visit. Max will be wearing it with pride.

The real reason they were in town was to watch the match tonight, Wallabies v British & Irish Lions. Our guests may have hinted at who they were supporting tonight, with one wearing a mascot on his back! Considering their ancestry, we can't blame them.

We hope to see them back at Windsor soon.

Thanks to all our members who pitched in and helped with the BBQ and welcoming our guests.

Windsor loves a croquet tournament and on Friday it was Brooch time again!

This month we welcomed players from Gladstone, Eildon, Stephens, Wynnum, McIlwraith, Merthyr and Bribie Island to the July Brooch. We had 4 players experiencing their first brooch, with one of them winning their block. That seems to be a theme, as last month a first timer won their block.

The weather tried to dampen our enthusiasm, but it didn't succeed. It may have been wet for a little while, but most players were prepared for the wet.

Congratulations to the winners:

- Block A: Graham (McIlwraith) - Block B: Steve (Bribie Island) (he also won a prize in the raffle when his name was drawn out twice!) - Block C: Ann (McIlwraith) - Block D: Mary (Windsor)

Thank you to all players who participated and displayed true sportspersonship. Thank you to the organisers, Ann who baked delicious goodies for everyone, Tournament Managers, referee, the raffle organisers, Grinners Trophies and everyone else in the club who contributed to make the day a great success.

Entries are open for the August Brooch to be held on Friday 15 August and the Windsor Double is on 10th August. Head over to our website to register. Hope to see you soon.
