Wet weekend at the 2018 Windsor Cup singles

he Windsor Cup Association Croquet singles certainly had varied weather on the weekend. It also had a range of players, as it caters for all levels of play in the Round Robin Groups. Geraldine was in Group 2 and Heather was in Group 1.

Saturday was perfect croquet weather with just a bit of rain, and then on Sunday it was WET, WET, WET. Lynda Davis was very glad of her Commonwealth Games Volunteer rain jacket. A few of the others were not so well protected!

Group 2 finished early, so photos of the winner, Ken Barker (The Range-Maleny), are elsewhere. Congratulations, Ken! It was a close finish, with Hedi Trask (Toombul) also winning 4 games.

A very 'drowned rat' Wayne Appleby (Toombul) went through undefeated in Group 3, with Stephens' own David Hesse runner-up. Well done, David!

Group 1 was very pleased to see Greg Bury continuing his return to croquet. He and Lindsay David (Graceville) started the last game on equal wins. The weather improved for this game, which saw Lindsay become the winner of the 2018 Windsor Cup.

Quite a few Stephens players have won this trophy in past years. Thanks to Willy Silk and Cynthia Tacey for sponsoring the event, and to Willy and Peter who ran it so well. Delicious morning and afternoon treats too, thanks Windsor.
