WEST TOOWOOMBA Egyptian Golf Tournament
An Egyptian Golf Croquet tournament organised by Kaz Boswell on 6 September drew seventeen players, with Bob Taylor winning the men's title and Kathe Trethewie the women's.
n Egyptian Golf Croquet Tournament was organised by Kaz Boswell and was well attended by Members on Sunday 6th September. With a financial membership of thirty-seven, the entry to the tournament was fantastic. Seventeen members played and at least four of the entrants had never played in competition before. Five other members (including Kaz) turned up to help in the kitchen and support the competitors. These numbers support a belief in healthy competition within the club. These competitions encourage players in a supportive environment to enter where they may not be inclined to go to another club where they may be judged as not good enough. Players gained experience in handling their handicap cards and playing within the WCF rules. The little cliches or groups who only play together were broken down and served as personal confidence boosters. Bob Taylor reigned as Men’s Champion and Kathe Trethewie as Women’s Champion. Trophies for the event were donated by jointly by Amanda and Kaz). While raising money for the club was not the goal, money raised will undoubtedly be put to good use.

A very successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on 26th August gave the club a quick profit of just under $3000. Unfortunately this is far short of our Council water bill for the half-year. Sometimes it is hard to get enough volunteers for fund-raisers like this, however we had a full helpful crew this time.
We look forward to the second round of Darling Downs Pennants on 24th and 31st of October and our Friendship Day on 15th October. The lawns are holding up pretty well in spite of a lack of any rain thanks to Noel and Trevor’s attention.
