Val Layne nominated for 2021 Moreton Volunteer Award

Another very well deserved award for our club President, Val Layne, who was nominated by Club Patron Cr Nicole Johnston for a 2021 Volunteer Award for the Federal electorate of Moreton. (Please note: the photo is pre-Covid.)

"The awards honour the hard work and volunteer spirit that is alive and well on the Southside, despite the pandemic. They are an important reminder that we are not just individuals living in the same geographic location, but we are a community working together." - Graham Perrett MP

In 2020, Val implemented an appropriate Covid-19 plan for our club, which meant that the club was able to re-open when the lockdown restrictions were lifted. Club championships and State events were hosted and, with a change of venue to Yeronga Services & Community Club Inc., even the Annual Awards Presentation and Christmas Lunch was possible. New players are always welcomed warmly at Stephens.
