Twin Rivers players shine at Darling Downs Regional tournament

Each year in February the Darling Downs Regional tournament is run.

The Association events are:

- Division 1: Rene Cole Memorial Cup - Division 2: Joy Gardner Trophy - Division 3: June Brady Trophy - Division 4: Betty Beltz Trophy

This year Twin Rivers CC was represented by Lindsay David in the Rene Cole Memorial Cup and Kevin Hamilton-Reen in both the Betty Beltz Trophy and the June Brady Trophy.

A big congratulations to both players:

- Lindsay won the Rene Cole Trophy with three wins and +43 hoops. - Kevin won the Betty Beltz Trophy with two wins and +28 hoops. - Kevin also finished 2nd in the June Brady Trophy with two wins and +6 hoops.

The Rene Cole Memorial Cup

Rene Cole and her husband Jim were long-time members of the West Toowoomba Croquet Club.

Rene was a Life Member and the backbone of the Club for 42 years. Upon her death the family wanted to do something at the club in memory of her.

It was decided to turn the Division One Event in the Darling Downs Tournament into the Rene Cole Memorial Event, with the family providing the Cup.

The first Rene Cole Cup was played in 1999.
