Twin Rivers celebrates grand opening of two new courts

n 2 February 2023 we celebrated the Turning of the Sod. Last week we celebrated the grand opening of our two new courts.

It was a joyous occasion, and there to help us celebrate were Chris Wagland, representing State government in the absence of the Honourable Michael Healey MP, Minister for Sport; Logan City Mayor Jon Raven and Councillor Karen Murphy; Croquet Queensland President Pat Habner; and many others representing Logan City Council and members of our community.

Unfortunately our Patron and Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen, could not be there but sent his best wishes, as did Melissa McMahon, Member for Macalister.

So at last we are on the map: the only croquet club in the City of Logan boasting four courts, and looking forward to hosting tournaments. We sincerely thank all those who helped us on this journey, too many to mention. Some unexpected and valuable help came from friends of one of our members who never have, and possibly never will, swing a mallet.

After a truly scrumptious morning tea and a drop of champagne, play got underway. Winners of this competition were Maia and Ian, with runners-up Bev and Michele. Taking out third place were Bruce and Trevor, and fourth place went to Chris and Mimi.
