Tweed Heads starts clubhouse demolition and farewells Jack

Demolition Day has arrived at Tweed Heads. The club's last day of use of the existing building was 22 May, with the new clubhouse hoped to be completed by the end of December 2025.

In the meantime, play will continue on courts 2 and 3. Court 1 will be closed for contractors, and members have been asked to stay off the demolition site because of asbestos concerns. The club's mobile contact is 0419 921 012, and the email remains tweedheads@croquetqld.org.

Easter gave members a last chance to celebrate together with visitors from Murwillumbah before demolition. Easter hats were a feature, with the best hat worn by treasurer Lorri Cummings and judged by Life Member Thelma Beadle. Novelty games and a member-catered lunch made for a fun day.

A number of players attended Golf coaching classes by Kathie Grant at BHPB and felt they benefited from the experience.

The club also remembered Jack, who joined in 2023 and died on 10 May 2025. Though he was with the club only a short time, he often said his greatest joy was taking up croquet.

The last official morning tea in the clubhouse was held on 22 May, and Patron Geoff Provest MP, Member for Tweed, joined the club.
