Turner wins 2020 Fleming Trophy at Wynnum

The CAQ Qld Women's Championship (singles, level play) was a 2 day event held at Wynnum this weekend. Players came from the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane regions.

There were 15 players in 2 blocks competing for 2 prizes. The top 2 women played off for The Fleming Trophy and the runners up played for the C Donley Plate. The competition at this level was incredibly high with very interesting tactics used in all games.

The winner of the 2020 Fleming Trophy was Beryl Turner, the runner up was Geraldine Trivett. The Donley Plate was won by Helen Rillie, the runner up was Val Knigge.

We were very lucky to have a bevy of referees to cover the two days play and we thank them all for their valuable time.

Thanks must also go to the wonderful managers, organisers and all their helpers. As we all know, it takes a small army of volunteers to get a major championship organised and we thank them all.
