Toombul catches up trophies, doubles and lawn work after summer rain
Toombul reports completed Golf Croquet singles, Golf Doubles winners, flooded courts, topdressing and plans for pennants.
Toombul has finally finished last year’s club singles Golf Croquet games, with trophies still to be engraved. The club held its after-Christmas function on 12 January after being unable to fit it in before Christmas. Members brought a wide variety of delicious salads, and Liz Fleming presented the trophies.
The club Golf Doubles were held over a weekend in November, with Brett Connor and Hedi Trask winning. Brett is a relatively new player and did very well. A BBQ lunch followed.
Toombul will put forward a team in Golf Pennants for 2025 after doing well last year, and hopes to win it this year. The club will also have an Association team, including two beginners.
Topdressing was completed on 16 January after December rain delayed the work. The lawns had flooded on 12 January to about two inches, but play was possible again by Wednesday 15 January. The drainage is remarkable, helped by rubble drains between the lawns and a slight gradient from road side to clubhouse.

Lawn one is looking good thanks to Wayne’s hard work and the rain. The trees around the lawn are lovely, but take a lot of water, so watering will increase.
The AGM was held at the end of November and the committee remains the same. Membership is still 22, which makes games easy to arrange, although 30 would be ideal.
