Stephens players shine at Jean Armstrong Memorial Shield

Three Queenslanders, Rosemary Newsham and Heather Knight from Stephens and Cynthia Tacey (Windsor), accepted the invitation to play in the Jean Armstrong Memorial Shield (Association Croquet) at Brighton Club in Adelaide last month.

After four days of competition, there was a very close finish. In the Final Block, it was a three-way tie between Rosemary, Heather and Gail Hopkins (Victoria). Heather Knight was very pleased to win on hoops won. Rosemary was runner-up. Well done Cynthia in winning the Plate block.

Jean Armstrong was a keen competitor and enthusiastic coach and is remembered fondly by many.

Thanks to Brighton for hosting a very enjoyable event in mostly perfect weather.
