State Gateball Championships held at Stephens Croquet Club

The CAQ State Gateball Championships are being held at Stephens Croquet Club this weekend, with the Teams event completed today and the Doubles event starting tomorrow.

10 teams competed in glorious weather on beautiful fast lawns. At the end of the two day Round Robin competition, Rockhampton Croquet Club took the Winning Honours and the Lola White Shield, with a clear 8 games. Runners up were a Canberra Croquet Club/Woodville Croquet Club combination with 6 games. There were over 60 smiling competitors taking part over plenty of games, great shots, near misses and delightful morning and afternoon teas.

Thanks to Sheryl Kele for her wonderful Tournament Management, and to all those Stephens Club Volunteers, especially those playing for the home team, for court setup, kitchen and housekeeping duties.
