Spencer and Bates win CAQ Golf Croquet Mixed Doubles

Windsor Croquet Club hosted the Croquet Association Queensland (CAQ) Golf Croquet Mixed Doubles on 10 & 11 August 2024. Thirty-two players travelled from around Queensland as well as Tasmania to compete in the event. The weather was very kind to us, with no need for wet weather gear.

Players were grouped into two blocks on both days, playing a round robin of seven 13-point games. Scores were pretty close, with some closely fought games.

The Championship was won by Gabby Spencer and Sidney Bates with 6 wins. Runners-up were Ross Rillie and Helen Rillie with 5 wins.

The Consolation was very close, with the winners being determined by the number of net hoops. Jill Cole and Mike Mabbutt were the winners, winning 5 games with 14 net hoops. The runners-up were Geoff Hull and Ann Rawding, winning 5 games with 7 net hoops.

Thanks to the organisers, referees, tournament managers, hoop setters, bakers and everyone behind the scenes who helped make the day a great success.
