Shawn & Kym Real Estate mixed doubles at Wynnum

A Golf Croquet Handicap Mixed Doubles competition, sponsored by Shawn & Kym Kristofer Real Estate, was held on Sunday 17th July at Wynnum Croquet Club. Setting up the courts in the dark is always a challenge, but it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.

As this was a handicap event, there were lots of bisques (extra turns) given to the less experienced players. This always levels the play and often gives some unexpected results.

The winners of the event were Charlie Ernst & Mary McMahon from the Southport Croquet Club, with a score of 7-1 over Steve Scrimgeour & Dot Davidson from the Burleigh Heads Palm Beach Croquet Club in a fiercely contested final. The final score didn't reflect how close the game had been, and there were some extraordinary jump shots to secure hoop points. It was fantastic to have our sponsors Shawn & Kym at court side to watch the final and then present the trophy and medals.

An event of this size would never happen without the support of volunteers, including the Tournament Manager and Assistant, referees, hoop setters, and catering ladies. A huge thank you to everyone. We certainly appreciate your hard work.

Our thanks must also go to Shelley Johnson and other Club Members who provided some delightful treats for morning tea. Everyone enjoyed the 'goodies'!
