It was an early start on Sunday, 1 May 2022, when Graceville Croquet Club hosted its annual 'Golf Singles, Level Play' competition.

Players from Stephens, McIlwraith, Twin Rivers and Graceville Croquet Clubs all played five rounds to reach the final round late in the afternoon.

Overcast skies made for perfect croquet weather, but not for the final. The heavens opened up, and our finalists, Randall Whyte and Laurie Webb, played in wet, soggy conditions. The winner was Randall, with Laurie the runner-up.

Thanks must go to Geraldine Trivett, who was the referee, running back and forth between three lawns. She did a wonderful job.

Graceville Croquet Club would like to give a special thank you to Simon Hurwood, Focus Optometrist, Sherwood, who once again donated the prize money. His ongoing commitment to our sport and our club is very much appreciated.

Finally, this event would not have been possible without the hard work of our organisers before and on the day: Joy, Maureen, Helen and Randall, and all those members who contributed to creating the best morning and afternoon teas.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the day and hope to see them again at Graceville to enjoy playing the wonderful sport that is croquet.
