hen, just as the forecasters had promised, the rain finally arrived. Play continued through the drizzle because, naturally, a few drops of water were never going to stop a dedicated croquet player!

But then the heavens opened.

When it started to really pour down, even the most committed players decided that discretion was the better part of croquet, and play was finally abandoned.

September was another bumper month for rain at Wynnum Croquet Club, with a staggering 6.4mm recorded. Yes, you read that correctly. 6.4mm! At that rate, the garden hose is probably feeling overworked.

Despite the ominous wet weather warnings, a handful of hardy players turned up, determined to prove that neither rain nor the threat of rain would stand between them and a game of croquet.

They were soon joined by Mr & Mrs Duck and their two offspring, the four of them happily wandering around the courts, nibbling the grass and looking completely at home.
