Queenslanders compete in Melbourne at Australian Singles and Eire Cup

Early in March, Rosemary Newsham, Geraldine Trivett, Ralph Allan and Heather Knight travelled to Melbourne to play in the ACA Australian Men's and Women's Singles. Rosemary and Heather used it as preparation for the following days when they represented Queensland in the interstate Eire Cup. What a great experience for them all!

The Victoria Croquet Centre at Cairnlea is a very impressive 12 court complex, just the right size for the six State Teams to compete at one venue.

Victoria had the home ground advantage and was a very strong winning team: World #1 Robert Fletcher, Stephen Forster, Malcolm Fletcher, Rod Kirk, Wendy Dickson, Trisha Devlin, Anne Quinn and Elaine Coverdale (runner-up in the ACA Women's Singles to Alison Sharpe, NSW).

Simon Hockey (SA) won both the Gold Medal and Men's Singles.

Troy McCallum represented Queensland in the Gold Medal and Kathleen Colclough was QLD Player of the Series for the Eire Cup.
