Patron Shield Day a success at Headland Buderim

Cheers to Gordon and Judith! It was a stunning day on Saturday when we came together for our Patrons Day. Please see below the report from our very own Cheryl Moodie. Photos to follow.

Patrons Day report

Without a doubt, it can be said that the 4th Patron Shield Day at Headland Buderim was another success. Although the field was on the smallish side, the round robin competition was played in spirited camaraderie, with games going to the full allocated time due to it being quite an even draw, even though it was a high-low pairing out of the hat!

We moved through the 3 morning games, allowing time for lunch together before two more afternoon games were played. This was followed by afternoon tea and the presentation.

Congratulations go to Shirley Eames and Vivian Lloyd, who won all their games and received medals from Judith Matthews, as Gordon, our patron, was unable to be present in person for the day. Their names will be engraved on the shield which hangs in the clubhouse.

Judith continued the tradition of spoiling the players with sumptuous delicacies which she had prepared in huge and varied quantities for us. This is a significant day in our club's annual calendar, and I sincerely hope it gets the recognition and support it deserves next year. A great day played in the spirit Gordon had hoped for!

Again, from all present, a HUGE thank you to 2 special people, Judith and Gordon.
