On Thursday 13th June the NSW blues claimed an historic win of the Border Trophy against QLD at Tweed Heads Croquet Club. It has been 10 years since NSW claimed the Trophy and Alan Edwards,Captain of the blues, was ecstatic in accepting the coveted prize. The scores were 15 games NSW to 13 games Qld so if one game went the other way it would have come down to hoop counts - a well balanced competition.
Attended by some 35 players from across the region, the Border Trophy was a great success, assisted by beautiful weather. Tweed Heads club hosted the day with Golf played on 2 lawns while Ricochet and Association codes were played on the remaining lawn using a half court for each. AC and Ricochet codes played shortened versions of their game to work in with the Golf games. With players from 6 clubs on the coast all mixed into the two teams there was great camaraderie and a special social and fun day for all participants. Special thanks goes to Tweed Heads for hosting the day and putting on a great spread for lunch and special prizes in the major raffle.
