Newsham and Luxmoore win 2017 Association Croquet Doubles

ongratulations to the 2017 CAQ Association Croquet Doubles Champions, Rosemary Newsham and Dave Luxmoore.

Stephens Croquet Club members have a strong competitive streak, and six entered the 2017 Queensland Association Croquet Doubles Championship at Bribie Island.

Ralph Allan teamed up with Kathie Grant (Southport & NZ), and Rosemary Newsham played with David Luxmoore (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach). Two combinations were family affairs: the Preston brothers, Neil and Ross, and the mother and son Knight team.

The defending champions, Tom and Heather, were keen to make it two in a row. After two days of competition, they made it to the final against Rosemary and Luxmoore. Conditions at Bribie Island were extremely windy, but Tom and Dave both made good breaks to keep the scores very even. The final score was 17-15 to the new combination of Rosemary and Dave. Congratulations!
