New Zealand visitors enjoy a day at Headland-Buderim
Fourteen croquet players from New Zealand's South Island visited Headland-Buderim on Friday. The day included a friendly NZ vs Qld match, a mixed draw, and a get-together at Maroochy RSL.
n Friday morning, 14 croquet players from New Zealand's South Island came to play at Headland-Buderim in beautiful weather.
The first round was a friendly NZ vs Qld format, with a great outcome of 4 games each. After morning tea, club members were paired with a visitor in a high/low draw. This proved to be a lovely time getting to know each other.
During morning tea, all visitors were presented with a 'welcome bag' from our club, which was very much appreciated. Heather was also surprised with a rendition of Happy Birthday and was presented with a birthday cake in the evening!
Late in the afternoon, all visitors and five club members gathered at Maroochy RSL for another lovely get-together prior to an evening meal.
The NZ clubs included Aorangi, Tainui, Winton, Waimate, Wakatipu and Wanaka, where club member Don was once a member. Warm words of thanks were given by the group's organiser, Dale. Don also showed his appreciation of the event planning.
The visitors were playing other clubs on the Sunshine Coast during their stay.
