David Law, a member of the Sunshine Coast Council, came to the Nambour Croquet Club for a meeting with members of the club executive to discuss the current financial problems facing the club. The good news: a $3,000 grant to repair the grass mower and a further $500 to buy new scoring clips. President Vicki Elliott presented David with a set of clips and the sincere thanks of the Nambour Croquet Club members.

Have you ever been presented with something which you hope you will never have to use? Rod Skelton, MP for Nicklin, presented a defibrillator to the Nambour Croquet Club. Gary Langford from Queensland Ambulance gave a very interesting demonstration as to how it should be used and the reasons as to why. The club members (nearly all seniors) were thinking its use could be on me, so lots of questions until all were happy and confident.

Vicki Elliott, our President, gave a sincere thank you to Rod and Gary on behalf of the members. Mike Wilson has installed it in a prominent position ready for use.

The Nambour Croquet Club recently decided to have come and try days. Three were organized for Saturday mornings. I had sent an article to the Sun Valley Gazette and was curious as to any come and try interest. There was also an interview on radio featuring President Vicki Elliott.

Surprise, surprise, lots of people on the green with four being shown how the game of Croquet is played. The weather was perfect and how do you get new members? Give them a really warm welcome, encourage them to have a try, a big thank you for coming, and a very nice morning tea between games. Overall, we got seven new members, all very much enjoying the game.

NCC member Pop Petersen has been selected as a member of the Queensland Croquet Team. Congratulations from all. I received an email photo from Pop playing in a competition in Melbourne; very cold, anoraks, the hood up, gloves, and if I had not been told I would have thought it was a scene from the Antarctic.
