Mrs WR Pitter Cup won by David Hesse and Heather Knight

Association Croquet Doubles – Part 2

The Mrs WR Pitter Cup at Graceville is a relatively new event for Handicap Doubles. More experienced players often pair up with those who would like to improve their game, and this year was no exception.

It was great to see the Rubocks playing AC, with Elaine in her first comp EVER. We also welcomed Barbara Flowers from Ipswich.

Stephens was represented by 'Preston Croquet' (aka brothers Neil and Ross) and David Hesse with Heather Knight.

David and Heather were undefeated in winning the trophy, which is the cup that Mrs Pitter won in one of her two victories at the Queensland Open Singles in the 1930s.

Runners-up on 4 wins were Elaine Rubock (Wynnum) and Dave Luxmoore (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach), and the Prestons were 3rd.

Graceville did a great job of hosting the event. Thanks to Lindsay for being Manager and for the photos.

As usual, the catering was spot on, but they were relieved that the weather was good. We were 'al fresco' as the painters were still finishing off the refurbishment of the clubhouse.
