Merthyr on the screen, on the lawn and in the pennants
Merthyr Croquet Club features in World Croquet Day promotions and ABC 7.30 News, competes in Div 2 Golf Pennants, and celebrates tournament results by Casey De-Vene and Zach Kominar.
Merthyr's Div 2 Golf Pennants team, pictured with Eildon, put up a valiant effort in the competition this year. It did not translate to the scoreboard, but the club was pleased to participate as usual, and looks forward to the Div 3 Golf pennants competition which is being scheduled for the coming months.

ABC 7.30 reporter Peter McCutcheon and his crew visited Merthyr CC for a segment on the battle heating up for the federal electorate of Brisbane. Members were invited to speak their mind, but only a few decided it was worth it.

Casey De-Vene ventured down to Cairnlea to participate in the GC Open Singles, coming in 3rd for the plate event. This was a spectacular result for his first national competition down in Melbourne.
Zach Kominar won the AC Handicap Easter Competition held at Stephens CC. Runners up were Ken Barker and Jacky Lynch.
Casey De-Vene and Zach Kominar participated in the Stephens CC Egyptian format golf competition, landing in the middle of the pack.

Zach Kominar was placed runner-up in the inaugural Windsor Brooch AC monthly competition, with Rino Parrella of Eildon CC coming in first place in the block. Congratulations to both. Rino played very well for his first singles AC competition.

Merthyr CC welcomed new members to the club with a new member induction ceremony held on the same day as World Croquet Day. Members also brought some friends to come and try out croquet. The club has yet to see if any will come back to play, as the constant rains since the event have had the lawns largely out of action.
