McIlwraith celebrates Eddie Atkinson's 100th birthday

We're thrilled to celebrate long-time McIlwraith member Eddie Atkinson on his amazing 100th birthday!

Marked by Scottish pride, good humour and a lively contingent of McIlwraith lads and lassies, it was a birthday worthy of a true character.

While Eddie no longer plays, he always brought a cheeky approach to the game. When he won the Club's Mixed Doubles competition in 2013 with fellow Scot Gill Anderson, his first question was: "Did we win? We didn't cheat, did we?"

According to Gill, Eddie hit the ball beautifully, and could jump as well. These days he's content to sit back with a cigar, a glass of champagne and share a few tall tales!

We'd like to think that years of playing croquet, along with plenty of humour and friendship, may well be the secret to Eddie's long life.

Still carrying on at 100 . Happy birthday, Eddie!
