Mary McMahon wins CAQ First Eight GC Singles

The CAQ First Eight GC Singles was played at Eildon Croquet Club on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of June 2023, in glorious sunshine, with the players competing in a Double Round Robin event. Our Wynnum club member, Gordon Giles, was one of the 8 contestants.

In a Double Round Robin, all players play against each other on Saturday and front up again on Sunday and do it all over again. Games were untimed and many were decided on hoop 13.

The winner in the First Eight wasn't decided until the last round on Sunday, which made for a fascinating finale to the tournament.

Congratulations to the winner of the First Eight, Mary McMahon (Southport), and Runner Up, Ross Rillie (Headland-Buderim). Well done.

Our thanks must go to the host club Eildon, and also to all those who helped each day: the Tournament Manager, Referees, hoop setter and all those who worked in the background to make it all happen.

Well done everyone, it was a great weekend.
