aloundra Croquet Club was the venue for the 2021 Gibson Medal – Association Croquet. It is only open to Queensland players.

Mrs J Gibson had outstanding managerial expertise and was President of the Australian Croquet Council (ACC) in 1954, 1955 and 1956. The ACC was formed in 1949 in Brisbane with Mrs Gibson as Chairman and was affiliated with the Croquet Association of England in 1950.

Sixteen players from 13 clubs, from Gracemere to Coolangatta, entered the event, including previous winners Bruce Fleming, Greg Whymark, Dave Luxmoore and Troy McCallum. Ross Preston and Heather Knight flew the flag for Stephens.

In the qualifying block, Bruce Fleming beat Lindsay David but, when they met again in the final of the knockout, Lindsay won the Gibson Medal and his name will go on the Catherine Birmingham Shield. Congratulations on winning this prestigious event.

The presentations were made by Pat Habner, Acting President of Croquet Queensland.

Don Close won the Plate and Chris Borlase was runner-up.

Many thanks to event manager Murray Tinker, the team of volunteers at Caloundra and the referees, Liz Fleming and Donna Manning.
