Lawrie Simpson receives 2021 Petrie Volunteer Award

he 2021 Petrie Volunteer Awards were presented this morning by Luke Howarth MP, Federal Member for Petrie.

Volunteers are the backbone of our community, and Luke wanted to recognise our local heroes to show how much they are valued and appreciated. While it's always hard to single people out, there might be someone in your organisation who always seems to go that extra mile and deserves a special thank you.

And there was.

One of those volunteers was Eildon's Lawrie Simpson, who received his award this morning.

Lawrie has been a volunteer and major contributor, and does a fantastic amount of work around the club as Lawns Manager to give us the best lawns and surroundings. Evidence of this is his drive to replace our old shelters, with foundations for the new shelters coincidentally being laid this morning.

Lawrie also acts as a mentor and coach to many players in the club, old and new, and his guidance is always appreciated.

Well done and thanks, Lawrie. Your award is well-deserved.
