Inaugural Women's Elite Coaching Day for Association Croquet

Last Friday... What a day! More are planned!

Participants travelled from Western Australia, ACT and NSW to join Queenslanders for the inaugural Women's Elite Coaching Day for Association Croquet. Last weekend, they played in the Queensland Women's Open Championship.

The concept was taking shape in March at the interstate Eire Cup Dinner. Thank you Megan Reynolds and Greg Bury for making it happen.

We drew inspiration from discussions about past and present Association Croquet players:

- Lorraine Bray - precision rushes - Jenny Clarke - no fear - Alison Sharpe - consistent roquets - Shirley Carr - reliable State player - Debbie Lines - winning will - Creina Dawson - dominated in late 1970s and 1980s - Grace Pohl - time on the court

Francesca provided the most amazing food for lunch and afternoon tea to fuel the discussions, time trying out skill drills and practice games.

During the week, Maleny Croquet Club hosted social games and there were some tourist activities.

Unfortunately, Yuni Rowell, the 2025 Australian Women's Singles Champion, was ill. We missed her great attitude and love of the sport of Association Croquet.
