Hull and Bates win Wynnum Metropolitan Challenge

he Metropolitan Challenge competition played on Sunday 4th February had a full complement of players, with 4 courts double banked all day. The weather was very hot but players managed to cope well, with ice blocks handed around at morning tea time.

The competition ended with a brilliant final between Gordon Giles and Mary McMahon playing off against Geoff Hull and Sidney Bates. Some very well executed roquets were seen as well as great hoop runs. The final score was 7-5 to Geoff and Sid.

The third and fourth playoff was Graham McLean and Alison Oatway against Ross and Helen Rillie, the latter pair winning that game 7-5.

It was our pleasure to have Gavin Stoneley with us, club sponsor and manager of George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals, who presented the trophies.

- First place: Geoff Hull and Sidney Bates - Second place: Gordon Giles and Mary McMahon - Third place: Ross and Helen Rillie - Fourth place: Graham McLean and Alison Oatway

Congratulations to the winners.
