Hervey Bay hosts Croquet on the Bay and celebrates senior club treasures
Hervey Bay reports regional Ricochet Pennants, Croquet on the Bay, tournament results and birthday celebrations for Graham Stocks and Beryl Messer.
The Wide Bay Burnett Croquet Association Regional Ricochet Pennants competition was held at Hervey Bay on 8 August, with Isis Croquet Club winning the Rhonda Lang Memorial Shield.
Croquet on the Bay ran from 16 to 22 August, with Association Singles Divisions 2, 3 and 4, Ricochet Doubles, Golf Singles and Golf Doubles. The event was well subscribed by local and visiting players and supported by significant sponsorships. Club Patron Ted Sorensen opened the tournament, with visits from David Lee MP, Mayor George Seymour, Deputy Mayor Sarah Faraj, Pat Habner, Michael Eddiehausen and sponsor representatives.

Pam Nicol was thanked for calmly and professionally serving as Tournament Manager, supported by helpers in refereeing, lawn preparation, clubhouse preparation and catering.

Hervey Bay also celebrated senior club treasures. Graham Stocks marked his 90th birthday and still plays Golf Croquet a couple of times each week. Beryl Messer spent her 88th birthday playing Ricochet in the Croquet on the Bay Tournament.
