Headland-Buderim holds mock State of Origin for Pineapple Trophy

he club's mock State of Origin, played for the coveted Pineapple Trophy, was held on Tuesday 8th. Since its inception in 2014, Queenslanders have dominated.

This year, four New Zealanders were 'imported' into the Queensland line-up. The NSW team was made up of all who were born 'south of the border' or in other countries.

Captains with great credentials in Rugby League were Ross Rillie for Queensland and Don Murray for The Rest team.

Robyn provided (fitting for a celebratory lunch) great pies from Simply Pies, plus a variety of desserts. Not to forget the half-time treats. Manager/mascot Helen was appropriately decked out in a pineapple-themed outfit.

Warnings of head-high tackles and verbal abuse were adhered to. However, two players received warning cards for other misdemeanours, but no one was sent to the sin bin.

Steve won the prize for goals with three successful jump shots through the novelty hoops. Although prizes were awarded, Trivia and Best Dressed unfortunately did not attract many entrants!

Thank you to those who played with great sportsmanship and friendliness.
