The CAQ GC Open Doubles was played at Wynnum Croquet Club on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of May, with players competing for the Cynthia Tacey & Greg Kerswell Trophy.

A field of thirteen pairs from south east Queensland clubs contested a round robin block format. Playing 12 games over two days in glorious sunshine, the final result was decided in the last round of play.

Wynnum was fortunate to have four experienced Referees: TR Liz Fleming, Deirdre Giles, Sue Green and Cloreen Van Der Sluis.

The winners were Dennis Green (Bribie Island) & Graham McLean (Eildon) with 9 wins & 17 Net Hoops.

Runners-up were Gordon Giles & Richard Pickvance (Wynnum) with 9 wins & 12 Net Hoops.

Third place went to Lawrie Simpson & Geoff Jamieson with 8 wins & 4 Net Hoops.

Our congratulations to Dennis and Graham on a great win to take out the trophy.

This was a great team effort by Wynnum members, and thanks must go to all those who helped each day: the Tournament Manager and Assistant, Referees, hoop setter and assistant, line markers, hoop checkers, those who erected gazebos, tables and chairs, and also the caterers. Well done everyone, it was a great weekend.

As usual, everyone enjoyed the superb catering by our Providore, Ann.
