Gordon Giles wins CAQ GC Men's Open Singles
Wynnum's Gordon Giles won the CAQ GC Men's Open Singles at McIlwraith with 10 wins. All four Wynnum players finished higher than their starting seeds.
ordon Giles, Geoff Hull, Richard Pickvance and Ron Schodel all represented the Wynnum Croquet Club in the CAQ GC Men's Open Singles, held at McIlwraith on 7-8 April 2018.
All 14 players competed in a round robin format, playing seven untimed 13-point games on Saturday. At the end of play, three players were tied with five wins, including Ron Schodel.
The remaining six games of the round robin were played on Sunday, and the last game decided the final result.
Our own Gordon Giles won the trophy with 10 wins, and Murray Tinker of Caloundra was runner-up with 9 wins.
All Wynnum players did very well and all ended up with a higher place than they were seeded at the start of the tournament. Well done, boys.
