Gibson Medal celebrates 63 years at Windsor Croquet Club

Mrs J Gibson, a long-serving member of Windsor Croquet Club, is remembered this weekend as the Gibson Medal is played for the 63rd time.

Gibson Medal celebrates 63 years at Windsor Croquet Club

Mrs J Gibson was a member of Windsor Croquet Club from 1938 to 1958.

Her achievements are as follows:

- Windsor President 1937-39 - Club Champion 1932, 35, 37, 38 - Windsor Life Member - CAQ President 1955-58 - ACC President 1954, 55, 56

In 1941 the Brisbane Courier acknowledged her contribution to women's sport and to the community.

After Mrs Gibson died in 1958 her husband donated one hundred pounds for a medal in her honour.

This weekend will be the 63rd time the Gibson Medal has been played for.

The first winner was Mr Hedley Gunton in 1961.
