Geoff Hull wins McKenzie Aged Care Bribie Challenge

The rescheduled GC Singles 6 and Under McKenzie Aged Care Bribie Challenge was held at Bribie Island on 2 and 3 July 2022. It was a double Round Robin over two days with 12 players, although unfortunately one player had to pull out at the last minute due to injury. Saturday was a bit miserable with rain showers, but players and officials enjoyed the sunshine on Sunday.

Casey de Vene (Merthyr) won Block A with 10 wins and 24 net hoops.

Our club was represented by Gordon Giles, who came 2nd in Block B with 9 wins and 22 net hoops.

Geoff Hull (Twin Rivers) won Block A with 9 wins and 25 net hoops.

Ross Rillie came 2nd in Block A with 7 wins and 11 net hoops.

There was some extraordinary croquet played over the two days. Eventually Geoff Hull and Casey de Vene played the Final, which was a classic going to the 13th hoop, where Geoff claimed the trophy. Congratulations to Geoff on his success, well done.

Our own Deirdre Giles was Tournament Referee for the weekend.

It was a huge weekend with great play, and thanks to the club members for all the great work done in making this tournament such a great event. Everybody really enjoyed the great hospitality and friendship.
