Eildon grows playing sessions and records strong results across Queensland events

Eildon has started 2026 with increased numbers, leading to more Golf Croquet sessions on Monday mornings, Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Members have been travelling to Ipswich, the Sunshine Coast, Darling Downs and Wynnum. In February, four Golf players entered the Metropolitan Doubles at Wynnum. Robert and Jill had four wins, while Robert and Lorraine won two block games.

Golf and Association players also visited the Darling Downs tournaments. Keith played in the Rene Cole competition and scored his first Triple Peel. Casey and Mike played in Divisions 2 to 4, where Casey won five games and came first in his block, and Mike won three games and came third.

The Darling Downs competition also included Level Play Golf Singles and Doubles. Robert, Jan, Maggie, Lorraine and Kathy played Singles, while Robert and Lorraine, Maggie and Kathy, Anthony and Cath, Jan and Shelly, and Peter and Judy played Doubles. Peter and Judy were defeated in a close final.

Soon after, many Golf players travelled to the Sunshine Coast Open Singles, Division 2 Championships and Open Doubles. Lorraine, John, Jan, Penny and Jill, and Desley and Mike played in the Open Doubles. Desley and Mike won their block and were runners up. Desley, Mike and John also played in the Open Singles, where Desley won.

Three Association players, Keith, Mike and Casey, travelled to Bribie for the Steve Jones event. Eildon Gateballers also played in the teams and doubles at Moreton Bay Gateball Club's new premises. Phil, Alan, Jules, Grahame and Mary played the teams event, while May, Fran, Phil and Alan played doubles. Phil and Alan won the doubles final.

Eildon also held a Bunnings BBQ in early March on a very wet Sunday. A small profit was made and the club's charity for the year, The Breakfast Club, appreciated the donation of sausages and bread. Members also attended an information session from sponsor Metropolitan Funerals, covering preplanned funerals and Assisted Dying Information.

Eildon is hosting a Gala Day on 12 April.
