Did you know? John Solomon's one-ball doubles win

id you know?

John Solomon, the 'Bradman' of croquet, whom the Solomon grip takes its name from, was once playing an Association doubles competition.

Sadly for John, his partner didn't show up.

Game over? Not quite!

While his partner was casually breakfasting and getting ready for the day, Solomon won the match in two successive games playing only one ball.

He did this by 'peeling' his partner's ball (i.e. hitting it with his own ball) through all 12 hoops and onto the peg.
