Congratulations to all.
It had a great beginning, with 12 pairs vying for the BNR Cup. Unfortunately the weather was against us, and games had to be closed down. All enjoyed the morning but they were more than happy to go home to dry clothes.
Better luck next year.

Deidre Hardy wins CAQ Women's Association Open Singles

The CAQ Women's Association Open Singles was hosted by Windsor Croquet Club over the weekend of 19-20 May. Eight women vied for the trophy over two fine and warm autumn days. The lawns played well and all players enjoyed the experience.
Willy Silk (Windsor), Heather Knight (Stephens), Deidre Hardy (Laurel Bank) and Cynthia Tacey (Windsor) progressed to the Championship. By the second round all four players had won one game each. Deidre won the day, with Willy Silk a close runner-up. Deidre Hardy was presented with the Edna Rudder Memorial Trophy for 2017 by CAQ President Valda Wintzer. The remaining four played off and Barbara Northcott (Southport) took the consolation prize.
Thanks to Windsor for putting on the event, and thanks to Greg Kerswell and Terry Ericson for refereeing one day each. No show without punch, so thanks also to the hoop setters, Max and company, Manager Aileen O'Connor, Computer Record Keeper Peter Stevenson, and all who assisted.
It was a joy to play in such beautifully blooming grounds, as shown in the group photo.
Cynthia Tacey
