Dave Luxmoore wins ACA Bronze Medal for Queensland
Dave Luxmoore has won the ACA Bronze Medal for Queensland for the third time, edging Chris Borlase on a count-back after three days of competition at Windsor Croquet Club.
ach year, Association Croquet players vie for the ACA Bronze Medal for Queensland. The winner then competes for the Gold and Silver Medals against the Bronze Medallists from the other States.
Over three days (16, 17, 18 October) there was intense competition at Windsor Croquet Club to see who will represent Queensland in Sydney in March next year ('fingers and toes crossed' that Covid is not a problem again).
Dave Luxmoore is the Bronze Medallist for the third time (previously in 2018 and 2019) - an excellent effort but it was a very close finish.
Dave and Chris Borlase were tied on 7 wins, so it was a count-back on hoops made (114-69).
Chris has only just returned to the sport after a break of 17 years.
Greg Bury and Lindsay David tied on 5 wins, but Greg was Third.
Thanks to Sarah Widin, who represented CAQ to congratulate Dave and the placegetters.
As usual, the volunteers need a big 'thank you': Event Manager and Referee Willy Silk, hoop setters Max and Greg, and Referees Margaret Melville and Donna Manning. There were some enthusiastic spectators, too.
The Gold and Silver play-off is part of the Australian Carnival - Women's and Men's Singles Championships and the Interstate Eire Cup Team event.
Stephens Croquet Club was represented by Rosemary Newsham and Heather Knight.
