Crystal Golf Croquet Singles challenge at Wynnum

For something completely different, we held the Ladies Crystal Golf Croquet Singles challenge on Thursday 15 November 2018. The prizes were a crystal bracelet and earrings, and even the raffle prizes were crystal. The weather was spectacular and there was a full field of 16 players. Our thanks to Club Captain Deirdre and Tournament Manager Bruce, who did a great job finding replacements for some very late withdrawals.

Players from Broadbeach, Graceville, Stephens and Wynnum Croquet Clubs competed for the honours and there were some very exciting games. It was wonderful to see some of our members playing in competition for the first time and enjoying every minute.

As always, our Providore Aina and her merry band of willing helpers did us proud and produced some truly wonderful food. Thanks to all involved.

Our lawns are in top condition and provided for some excellent croquet during the 4 round robin blocks and through to the Finals. The top 2 players from each block went into the Crystal X challenge for the main prizes. The rest of the players went into the Plate X challenge.

The Final of the Crystal X was contested between our Club President, Liz Fleming, and our Club Captain, Deirdre Giles. Liz was the winner in a great sporting Final.

Also, our club members Danielle Sarramegna and Anne Fullarton contested the Plate Y final, with Danielle winning in a very close game.
