CAQ 8 and CAQ 6s results from May long weekend
Mike Gidding won the CAQ 8 at Toombul, while the CAQ 6s were played at Stephens over the weekend. Keith Williamson and Heather Knight tied in the First 6, and Geraldine Trivett won the Second 6.
t has been a busy Association Croquet time at Stephens Croquet Club - nearly up to date with the photos and results!
On the May long weekend, the CAQ 8 was contested at Toombul Club. Congratulations to Mike Gidding (Ballina Croquet), who only dropped one game (to Chris Borlase, Gracemere Croquet Club) over the three days of competition. It was a very close situation for Runner-up - Bruce Fleming (Wynnum) clinched it on nett points from Chris and Les Watson (Eildon).
On the Saturday and Sunday, the CAQ 6s were played at Stephens.
In the First 6, the result was not known until the end of the last game. Keith Williamson (Eildon Croquet Club) and Heather Knight (Stephens) finished on 4 wins each, but Heather managed to score enough points in the loss to Keith - phew!
The Second 6 was more clear cut. Congratulations to Geraldine Trivett (McIlwraith Croquet Club/Stephens) on 4 wins. As for the 8, Runner-up came down to Nett Points - Lynette Evans (The Range Maleny) was 7 points ahead of Kevin Hamilton-Reen (Twin Rivers Community Mallet Sports Club Inc).
At both venues, the trophies were presented by Helen David, CAQ Treasurer, who is herself a very keen Association Croquet player.
Thank you to the Referees at Stephens - Greg Whymark (Bribie Island) and Greg Kerswell (Merthyr Croquet Club) - and all the volunteers behind the scenes who make such events possible.
