Unfortunately, Cap Coast was unable to send an article to the previous newsletter publication as there hasn't been much to report. Sadly, due to decline in members in Gracemere's club as well as our club, the usual yearly interclub competitions for Central Queensland clubs such as pennants and regional games, have been put on hold. However, luckily we were able to send representatives to Rockhampton for the annual Ricochet Doubles competition; to Gladstone for their Easter tournament; and to Rockhampton for the annual Queensland Gateball competition.

The Rockhampton Ricochet Doubles competition was an enjoyable day with players participating from Rockhampton, Cap Coast and Gladstone. Partners were paired in a high low arrangement from the pool of entrants. We were delighted that our newest member, Sue Frame and her partner, Steve Kele from Rockhampton, were the winners on the day.

Once again, Gladstone hosted their very popular Easter tournament. Every year the format is different and cleverly organised. It is intriguing how Gladstone can plan new ways to hold the tournament and to make it enjoyable. Last year Cap Coast won the tournament but regrettably only Sue Frame and Lyn Christiansen were able to play this year and we handed the winning shield to Rockhampton.

It was thought that Cap Coast would be unable to field a team for the Rockhampton Gateball tournament this year due to relocation, illness and retirement of members. Only four gateballers were able to play so that meant finding a fifth who could also be our captain. Bruce McAlister came to our rescue and kindly agreed to play for us. We had very low expectations in winning any games but we surprised ourselves and managed to come fourth overall.

Hopefully the winter months may bring some of our regular visitors from the southern climes. So far, we have welcomed our Tasmanian member. Sadly, one of our members has had a bad accident whilst holidaying in Tasmania and we are wishing him a speedy and successful recovery.
