On Saturday 17 June, the club hosted a very successful Come and Try day with 51 visitors attending. Guests were well catered for with a large turn-out of members to assist, as well as a substantial afternoon tea. Unfortunately all the good work has not resulted in a new member to date.

Caloundra's Gateball players travelled south in late June to participate in the Southport Gateball Carnival. The club had limited success in the teams event, finishing sixth in a pool of nine. However in the doubles event, Robyn Brown and Don Helmrich combined well to finish second in their pool. This guaranteed them a place in the final four to determine the prizewinners. Unfortunately Robyn and Don were runners up in both their games, finishing a very creditable fourth.

During the carnival, Keith Chur-Hansen presented Robyn Brown with her Level 1 referee badge and referee vest. Congratulations Robyn.

Unfortunately a number of Gateball players were unavailable to play in the very recent Eildon event. Consequently three of Caloundra's players joined with others to enter a composite team in this competition.

Some of the Sunshine Coast Regional Croquet Club interclub competitions have been completed while others have a few matches to play. Caloundra finished a commendable second in both the Association events, Lochwood and Bray Shields. In the GC events both the Shield and Plate teams have had some wins to date. GC Captain Sam Oaten is to be congratulated on how he has nurtured both teams. After each home game both teams go out to share a social bonding lunch.

Caloundra's Association players enjoy celebrating birthdays. It has become expected that the birthday celebrant brings along the cake and bubbles for all to enjoy. Last Saturday, one of the life members, Ted Singleton, celebrated his 80th milestone in the appropriate manner. Happy Birthday, Ted.

On the weekend of 22-23 June, the club hosted the President's Medal, a CAQ Golf Croquet event. Two members, Murray Tinker and Mike Bertram, entered and the club wished them well.

The club will be having its AGM on Thursday 17 August. President Sue Dixon is stepping down after her three years of presidency. Hopefully all positions will be filled at this meeting.
