As the report was written, the Caloundra courts had been out of action for almost two weeks due to a recent rain event. All courts were yet to be mown and most line markings had disappeared. The top four courts had their hoops reset, and a big thank you goes to Murray Tinker and Frank Guerreiro for their efforts.

The SCRCC Interclub competitions have commenced and the club has had mixed results.

Golf Croquet

Pennant: Caloundra won the first match at home against Bribie Island, however the second match against Coolum was washed out and has to be rescheduled. The next match was away against Headland.

Shield: The first match was washed out.

Plate: The plate team travelled to Bribie and came away winners.

Association

Lochwood (Division 1 and 2): Caloundra has played three matches and lost all three by 2-1. Leigh Sampson has been the star, winning all of his three singles games.

Bray (Division 3 and 4): The Bray squad has played three matches also. They were victorious in one of these encounters.

Recently four of the club's Gateball players plus Fran Buckle (Eildon) travelled to Rockhampton to compete in the teams event at Rockhampton's carnival. There were six teams entered and this composite team came third. Robyn Brown and Fran paired together in the doubles event and performed very well. They lost in a semi-final by one point to the eventual winners, Steve and Chris Kele.

The club's "Most Improved Croquet Player" trophy has not been presented since 2018 due to Covid interruptions. As Club Captain, Howard Williams had the pleasure of presenting Sam Oaten with this trophy for his improvement in 2021.

At the same time, the Association Captain Helen Matchett presented Carole Atkinson with her certificate as the "Most Improved AC Player in 2021".

The club also congratulates Mike Bertram for winning both the Association and Ricochet singles events in the SCRCC Tournament.

The "Active Game Day Grant" application submitted jointly by Grants Officer Bea Rogan and Treasurer John Nealer has been successful. On Tuesday, the State Member for Caloundra, Jason Hunt, presented President Sue Dixon, John and Bea with a cheque to the value of $51,920 to upgrade the drainage on the most recent courts - courts 3 and 6. Well done to all concerned.

Eight of the club's Association players are participating in a Development Program provided by Bruce and Liz Fleming. They have had one day of instruction, however the second day has had to be rescheduled due to the weather. The club sincerely thanks Bruce and Liz for their efforts to date.

On Wednesday 4 May, Liz and Bruce Fleming were at the club to present a full day workshop to all Sunshine Coast players on "TREP" - Tournament Referee Education Program. This was well attended and appreciated by all who attended.
