Burleigh Heads Palm Beach opens renovations; AGM nominations now open

Burleigh Heads Palm Beach celebrates renovation opening

Many thanks to all who organised and assisted in any way the successful opening function for our renovations and extensions, held on Friday 19th.

All invited politicians were greeted and welcomed by our President. Karen Andrews MP spoke warmly, as did Cr. Daphne McDonald and Michael Hart MLA. Ms Andrews unveiled the new plaque and inspected the club, as well as admiring the photos and other displayed memorabilia. Together with the President, Ms Andrews cut the celebratory cake.

A brief demonstration game was played on court 3 with Dave Luxmore as coach. Dave's jump shot nearly took out the video camera of the Channel 7 cameraman!! Following official proceedings, a light lunch was served and enjoyed by members and the many guests. Channel 7 briefly aired the video that evening on the 5.30pm Gold Coast news.

The following people need special mention: Andy Hallinon for organising the event and coordinating the day; President Robert for his speech and keeping the meeting flowing so successfully; Dot and Joy for the catering, and Joy for "minding the minders"; John Anthony for setting the hoops and having the lawns in tip top condition; and Ann Rawding for touching up the lines. We apologise if we have missed anyone.
