Bribie Island welcomes a new president and most improved player
Bribie Island farewells Jan Rees, welcomes Joan Gleeson as president, presents the Brae Shield and announces free croquet lessons.
Bribie Island Croquet Club held its annual meeting, farewelled the old committee and elected a new President and Committee. Brooke Savage chaired the meeting to welcome the new committee members. Retiring President Jan Rees was thanked for tireless work for the club, especially her project to improve the courts, which was a huge undertaking and has left them superb.
The new President is Joan Gleeson. She is looking forward to improving the standard of play and encouraging new members. The meeting was also an opportunity to present the Brae Shield trophy to Lesley Kavanagh.
The club also marked the end of the old year with a celebration at the RSL. Members enjoyed laughter and a good time together, with the main event being the announcement of Player of the Year. This year it was Libby Keene, who has tried other disciplines of croquet and has really improved her play.

Bribie Island is also offering free croquet lessons for anyone whose New Year’s resolution was to get more exercise, make new friends, try a new sport or just have fun. The six-week course starts on Thursday 6 February at 3.15pm. Numbers are limited, and enrolments or enquiries can be made to Jan Rees on 0437008042.
