Bob Martin goes back-to-back at the President's Medal

Bob Martin has won the CAQ Golf Croquet President's Medal two years running. He took his second straight title at Caloundra last weekend, seeing off Windsor's Claire Warriner in a 16-player round robin that ran across both days.

Caloundra Croquet Club hosted this year, and the club got perfect winter weather for it — clear skies both days and, by all reports, a very civilised Sunshine Coast afternoon. Sixteen players went through a full round robin rather than a knockout, which meant a lot of croquet across the weekend: Bob finished with 12 wins, Claire with 10.

Bob's win makes it back-to-back — he also beat Sidney Bates 7-4 in last year's final, at Caloundra as well.

This year's President's Medal is the fifth time it has been run. It's the Golf Croquet counterpart to the Gibson Medal on the Association side. Entry is open only to Queensland-registered players in both competitions, which makes them the only genuinely Queensland-only titles on the calendar.

Gordon Giles (Wynnum) won the first one, in 2022. Casey De-Vene (Merthyr) took it in 2023, and Sidney Bates (Ipswich) in 2024. Bob has now won the last two.
