Bendigo Bank GC Mixed Doubles returns as annual event

The Bendigo Bank GC Mixed Doubles tournament played on Sunday 22nd September had a full complement of players from Bribie Island, Burleigh Heads Palm Beach, Caloundra, Eildon, McIlwraith, Stephens, Southport and Windsor, as well as some of our own club members, all vying for the honours. The 2 referees were kept very busy with 4 courts double banked all day. The weather was very sunny with a nice breeze and players really enjoyed the day.

The competition, generously sponsored by Bendigo Bank, was graded by combined handicap into two divisions with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division.

It was our pleasure to have Justine with us, club sponsor and manager of Bendigo Bank, who presented the envelopes to all winners. Justine also announced that this competition will now be an annual event and that Bendigo Bank looks forward to continuing its sponsorship of the tournament.

- First place: Pat Woulahan & Lisa Weightman (Wynnum) - Second place: Joy Manning & Tony Baker (Burleigh Heads Palm Beach and Wynnum) - Third place: Alison and James Love (Windsor)

As with any tournament, a team effort is required to achieve a good result, and our team did us proud. From hoop-setting and court preparation, right through to games organisation and management, data entry, and including refereeing, cleaning and catering, raffles, etc., we had a lot of willing volunteers.
