Annerley-Stephens History Group wins 2017 John Oxley Library award

he Annerley-Stephens History Group Inc was celebrating last Monday evening in our heritage-listed clubhouse in Yeronga Park.

They won the 2017 John Oxley Library Community History Award for their Frank Corley House photo project. This prestigious award recognises excellence and innovation in preserving, recording and sharing Queensland history by community groups.

Well done to Bill Elliott and all the members, especially Dennis and Pauline Peel, who have been so instrumental in collating and sharing these wonderful photos of the Southside that record our district's architectural history and culture from the 1970s.

The Group also ran a successful local history conference this year, which led to the publication of the book 'Stories of Stephens'. The book was launched at Stephens Croquet Club by the State Librarian, Vicki McDonald.

These photos tell a bit about the book and show who was involved in making the book a reality.
